Follow up on missing paymentIf you have been keeping an accurate log of every survey you participate in, then you will quickly notice if there is a missing payment. A missing payment can be due to a computer error, a payment that is going through late or human error. Don’t panic if you notice something is wrong.

The first thing you should do is contact the company using the information in your log. Include the date and time you took the survey, the confirmation number if applicable, the survey payment amount you expected to receive and the date you should have received the survey payment. Be patient as it makes take them a day or two to get back to you. Often if there is a member wide problem with payments they will get a flood of emails and they can become backed up in their replies.

Here, I’ll give an example on how to follow up on missing payment of your supposedly survey payment:

To Whom It May Concern,

On March 28, 2010 I complete a survey on sewing needles. I completed the survey at 8:03pm and was given the confirmation number XYZ123. The survey stated that it paid $5.00. Surveys are paid within 7 days, and it has been 12 days. Please look into this issue and let me know when to expect payment.

If you breeze through just selecting random answers, those legal survey companies may disqualify you based on there being no possibility that you actually had the time to read each question. Legal survey companies are paying you for your honest opinion, so you definitely need to give them their money’s worth.

Check your email often. Surveys frequently tend to fill up very quickly, so I would suggest checking your email at least once or twice a day. I myself have missed out on several high paying surveys and focus groups because everyone else had snatched them up before I even opened my email invitation. Check your email settings and make sure your email program is frequently checking for new emails. Be sure to bookmark or keep a log of all the panels you registered with. While many will send you email invites, some require you to log in and check the website for new surveys and focus groups opportunities. Keep your email neat, tidy, and organized. Be sure to regularly go through your spam folder for emails that are not junk. Sometimes your survey invites end up there by mistake. You may need to add the email address listed with the survey companies to your contacts to guarantee they go straight to your inbox.

A significant difference between the online surveys and focus groups is the payment fee. Focus groups pay 10 to 20 times more than those online surveys, sometimes even a hundred times more. I strongly recommend changing your plans to integrate focus groups into your day when you are invited to participate.
